Steve Mize - Director of Community Services

Steve was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas 51 years ago and moved to Dallas in 1969, where he still lives today. He is married to his wife Patti of 31 years, and has two daughters, Brandi and Christi. Ten years prior to coming to work for Dallas County in 1987, he worked for High Rise and Exclusive Residential Construction. From 1987 to 2001, he worked as a Carpenter Tradesman in the Facilities Department.

Since 2001, he has been Director of Dallas County Community Service Program under the direction of Commissioner Price. In this capacity, he oversees the day to day projects of and around the county, including recycling over half a million pounds of paper per year saving landfill space, trees, water, and energy for the County and taxpayers.

One of Steve's personal projects is cleaning and maintaining abandoned cemeteries of the County. He feels that these people are the fathers and mothers of what makes Dallas County what it is today.
